Bone Grafting

Tooth loss and injuries to the jaw can result in bone loss that could impair the ability to place dental implants. In order to place the implant in the ideal position to ensure long term success it may be necessary to reconstruct deficient or missing portions of bone.  There are several techniques in performing bone grafts depending on the nature of the defect. You will have a consultation with Dr. Dhesi and after review of your medical and dental history a surgical plan will be created that suits your needs.

There are several types of bone grafts, here is what Dr. Dhesi offers:

  • Socket preservation
  • Sinus lift
  • Horizontal and vertical ridge augmentation
  • Major bone grafting

Bone grafting is often necessary in areas where there is insufficient bone to place an implant. Dr. Dhesi will review your scan with you to determine the type of graft that will work best for you. Most grafts require 4 to 6 months of healing before an implant can be placed. During the healing phase it is important to keep the area clean and avoid any pressure on the graft. We encourage you to call our office in Calgary, AB to schedule a consultation. Dr. Dhesi will meet with you to discuss your case and customize a treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Dhesi looks forward to caring for you and your family.
