Dr. Sandeep Dhesi grew up in Calgary and attended Western Canada high school. Early on in his childhood he was drawn towards the military and was able to realize his dream by enrolling in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1998. He attended University of Saskatchewan where he obtained his DMD with Distinction in 2001.
He was posted to Petawawa ON, Wainwright AB and Esquimalt BC in the early stages of his career. He was fortunate to be selected for his residency at the University of Texas at Houston Medical Center, where he obtained his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2010.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Dhesi passed the Royal College of Dentists of Canada specialty examination. He served in Afghanistan in 2011 as part a multinational coalition where he treated a wide variety of injuries in his role as facial trauma surgeon for the NATO Role 3 hospital in Kandahar.
Following his deployment he was posted to Ottawa and thereafter to Victoria, BC as the Pacific Region OMS. During his time in Victoria, he practiced full scope oral surgery and worked with his civilian counterparts at Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals.
Dr. Dhesi’s main area of interest is boney reconstruction, implants and orthognathic surgery. He is particularly grateful to have worked with other Canadian Forces dental specialists in developing new techniques and incorporating both soft and hard tissue grafting in a variety of unique cases.
He has trained at several institutes through the continuing education opportunities afforded to him through the Canadian Forces. Dr. Dhesi retired from the Canadian Forces after 20 years’ service as a Major and is excited to move back to his hometown to be closer to his friends and family.
Dr. Dhesi is married and has two wonderful boys. He enjoys playing sports and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.
